TouchNet - A Kansas City Success Story

The Start-up Years:

After several years of start-up challenges, TouchNet Information Systems, Inc. emerged in the early 90’s as a provider of advanced technology solutions for colleges and universities. With a handful of dedicated people and a group of local investors, TouchNet found the perfect market niche for growing a highly successful Kansas City-based technology company.

From Seed to Success:

A critical early step in the company’s long journey was the timely introduction of a small software program, called T-Serve, which delivered integration between new web-based applications and existing mainframe systems. This small program was the trigger for TouchNet’s growth into a major player in the higher education FinTech marketplace. In the 2000’s, as electronic payments and commerce grew in popularity, TouchNet continued to develop a full suite of software applications for automating and securing campus-wide financial transactions. Serving private, public, two-year, four-year, large and small institutions, TouchNet technology is used by institutions representing nearly 50% of all college students in the U.S.

A Smooth Transition:

In 2014, TouchNet was acquired by a major, publicly traded payments company. Over the next four years, the founding partners smoothly transitioned out of direct company involvement. Today, TouchNet, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Global Payments, Inc. (GPN), continues to flourish as a Kansas City company dedicated to helping colleges and universities run campus business better.
